Headlight Switch question

Hey Guys
I posted a couple days ago on the problems I am having (no headlights). After talking to a few guys they suggested i check the headlight switch.
Does anyone have a step by step on how to bench test this headlight switch with a volt / ohm meter?
Or a schematic of the headlight switch plug?
My truck is a 95 Ranger XLT 4.0 engine.

Seams to be a weak area for rangers. I've put 3 switches in mine over the 19 years I've had mine. My concern now is the truck side of the plug, the plastic has become hard and very brittle. Just trying to get it unplugged last time nearly broke it in half.
Failure always starts the same with headlights randomly blinking off and on and progressively gets worse.

Thanks to everyone who read my post and especially to "1993RangerXL" and "ENJr44" for their responses.
I went to the local "U Pull It" and happened to find a 97' XLT. Hallelujah - I took out the headlight switch, the blower motor switch, the radio, the bezel, the dome light, the stock cup holder...
Anyway I plugged the used headlight switch in and it worked perfect!

Glad to be of help. I have had a similar problem with starter cylinoids with the bakelite becoming very brittle from heat and starter not working. Auto zone doesn't like to see me coming for yet another warranty replacement (4 so far ). May sound like a lot, but truck does have 365k miles on it.
