Header Rant/Questions

Thats good to hear! Cuz thats pretty much my plan right now haha. Yeah the tap will most likely suck. I still have to look at it and see what to do. When it broke I just went in, I had enough haha. But I believe it will be drilled outt too...we got a carbide tipped bit for a rotary tool we're going to try, hopefully that gets rid of it :dunno:

Ok well I finally got around to working on my truck again. And I actually made progress! The bolt is gone! granted I pretty much just ended up destroying it and everything around it, but theres a hole there now that I can run a bolt thro. The original bolt was like, 1/4 maybe, and now theres at least a 3/8 hole in the head. I did damage. But it should work. The tap is a no go thro, drilling is near impossible. How does this sound for an idea (keep in mind that there is two holes per cylinder. One on top, one on the bottom. And right now I have a 3 bottom holes good to go, and the left and right top holes good to go. The tap is broken off in the center of the top hole) I bolt in everything and leave the broken off tap in the head, and after everything is tightened, I clamp the header to the head as tight as it will go then put a little spot weld on top to hold it there. Cuz if I have to ever take the headers off or something (FML if that happens..I'd sell the truck first) I could just grind the spot weld off no big deal. Any thoughts or comments guys? Thats about what I am down to with this stupid project and I want my truck to drive again! Parents Intrepid < My Ranger

That's a horrible idea. If you cannot fix it, just grab a head from a junkyard...they aren't THAT hard to remove, and judging by all the work you've done and plan on doing, it may have been easier.

I'm too much of a noob to replace heads. I can guarantee I'd mess something up. Today it was too cold to go to work so I actually get to work on it again and I'm saying F*** it. I tried getting rid of the tap every way i could (drill bits, carbide dremel bits) its staying in there. I'm just going to tighten the crap outta everything around it (five bolts only I guess) and hope it doesn't leak. If it does...I'll wait til spring then mess around with the heads I guess.

hey maybe if you absolutely need it u could pick up a head and ill give u a hand changin it (in a month or so lol) as i havent had a fudruckers burger in quite some time now...
haha

Haha i will keep that in mind. But surprisingly I have no leaks :headbang: ...yet haha

Good to hear you've got no leaks!

P.S.- You pick up a D35 with 4.56's already? I noticed your sig changed. lol

Haha yup I have a D35 with 4.56's and locker already installed. $380 shipped to my place! Woot...now I just need to find an 8.8 with that...which seems more rare. And I may have spoke too soon. Just last night I started hearing a lil tick. Exhaust leak...or just a tick? To be honest I've never heard an exhaust leak. Just heard about them haha

I dont know if they will fit, but my mustang uses studs in the headers. Much better for doing headers than bolts.
