Has anyone had a brain injury and had memory loss from it?

Reason I ask is, had a bad fall this morning and landed on the right side of my head. Right side of my face is swollen with a nasty cut. Went to see my Dr immediately and is having me do another MRI on the brain.

Summer of 2019, I had a really bad fall and landed left side of the forehead first on concrete. Still have scars from it being cut open. My Dr said go to the er..12 hours later and 2 mri's..was told I have a severe injury on the left side of the brain. Lost 80% of my memory.

My Dr is thinking I may have an injury on the right side of the brain.

Has anyone ever dealt with this?

Really don't know how much more I can take.

Sorry to read about those injuries

Reads like mild TBI(traumatic brain injury), there is mild, moderate and severe TBI

But repeated mild TBI can add up, Football, Hockey players and Boxers/MMAs, any contact sport athletes really, often have issues later in life if they have had multiple TBIs

So nothing to disregard, follow Doctors advice

Also the falls...........any common thread for those, looking at underlying balance issue, inner ear stuff, but not a Doctor

And since you didn't have the "hands first" automatic protection to break your fall, could you have passed out first, and that's why you fell, yes memory loss is common with TBI, so you may not remember the fall
So blood pressure issue, or low sugar, or.........?

Sounds very serious.
MotherInLaw suffered thru a series of head injuries & brain surgeries over nearly 30years; original injury was from a car accident.
You need to find the best available neuro\brain surgeon.
Recovery from such injuries is very possible, but greatly depends on getting this quickly diagnosed & taken care of.

Reason for the falls, had others in fall and winter of 2019..is my back. I need a 3rd back surgery. With the shoulders since 2018, my back Dr is waiting for my recent shoulder surgery to heal. The fall in 2019 happened to quick, had no time react..the one today, same thing. I do walk with a cane, did not have it with me. I do have a neurologist, see him this month.

When I had my two German rotts, they were my service dogs. I will be getting another one soon to help keep me stabilized.

Appreciate your help.

Mom got sideswiped couple years ago (well probably close to 10 by now)

She banged her head on the window without even knowing it, it messed her up for quite awhile afterwards with migraines and other weirdness.

I remember her saying the doctor said she had an acute concussion... and her saying there is nothing "cute" about it.

And thru all this the ditz's insurance was hounding her to just sign it off and to basically quit making it up.

She was 100% better within a year (I don't think it took that long but I didn't exactly track it on a calendar either)

I hope for you a speedy recovery and listen to your doctors. Get that back fixed too.

My buddy had a severe head injury about 10 years ago. Fell asleep while driving, hit a tree and a branch poked through the windshield and hit him in the head...had to spend a week in the ICU and a metal plate in his forehead. He was big into offroad and mud racing and continued after his recovery but our last race was really rough and he started having blackouts, confusion, vision loss, etc. That was probably 5 years after the accident but his doc said that just bouncing around will cause concussions for him at this point and the more you have, the easier they are to get so he has to be really careful. Even just bumping his head now will cause a concussion.

Stay safe, work on healing up!

Yeah.....too many.

Short term is a problem.
