I think every Vehicle Owner should own the Haynes repair Manual for their vehicles....

so many questions are asked on this forum that could be answered in complete detail and even with pics, if people were to just look it up in that manual

just saying, it has helped me tremendously (not to mention it has almost every spec for your vehicle that you may want)

plus for the budget guys like me its only $20

They're both about as useful. I like them to check what fluid to use and for torque specs.

the problem is most people don't know how to operate a book.

I bought one for my Jeep, wanting to know where all the hidden grease points were. No diagram just little paragraph that said "Find the Zerk fittings and grease them, if not there, install new ones". I'm a Helms guy all the way now. Got a set for the '66','69', '93 Stang. '07' Ex, and the 2000 Ranger. Got all the wiring diagrams for them also plus about five other years. Have had a couple just given to me cuz friends knew I was a Ford guy.

only bad thing about them. sometimes they arent very descriptive on stuff, and never have nearly enough pictures.

i guess what im saying is i just want a big picture book :icon_bounceblue:

i have a haynes, chilton and other books on every vehicle i own..and even some that i dont..

factory repair manuals are the best, imo, pick them up at flea markets, garage sales, forums..same goes for haynes/chilton..they dont have 20 dollars worth of info in them..only about 10 bucks worth of info..garage sales are your friend..

building a reference library out in the garage or in the shop is just as important as stocking your toolbox...

i get haynes and/or chilton manuals for not only my vehicle, but vehicles I get parts from.

check amazon, i got a haynes for my friends van for $.69 + $2 shipping

I scan the pages that go with the part (like 79 front axle diagrams) to put together into my own "repair manual."

I have always owned one for every bike of truck or car I have ever owned. Great way to learn how your vehicle works and what it looks like inside those hidden parts of the trans or that rear end or that transfer case!!!

I have one for my Volvo.. It told me exactly what I did wrong on my radiator flush last fall.. Lol

I have one for my truck, and one for my car. Useful for doing everyday fixes and repairs, like changing an alternator or doing a head gasket... Not so useful for stuff like tearing out the entire front axle.

Now, I have a Bentley repair manual for my car (VW golf) and it is freaking AMAZING. It has more pages of wiring diagrams and appendixes than the Haynes does pages, period.

I get one of each. What one is missing the other has or they directly conflict each other so between the two you can figure it out.

Unless you are looking for the oil sender on a 2.9l, I think it is. One book shows the wrong picture, the other says nothing at all. lol

amazon is the devil...they support a complete ban on .50 caliber weapons, if you buy books off of their website by going through a different link (try a google search) a portion of the sale gets donated directly towards campaigning for gun bans....

AMAZON=EVIL..boycott them, and let them know why you are boycotting them..ok i'll get off my soapbox now..back on topic, :icon_thumby:
