Haynes Manuals

I've never understood corporate sponsorship of political/social issues in which they have no stake. If .50 cal weapons are banned, how do they profit? I don't see a way, so why would they support such legislation?

I have several different manuals, Chilton, Haynes. I even have some awesome factory Ford manuals, in print and on DVD/CDs (one DVD covers 96-01 all Ford vehicles!). Now my friends make fun of me because I have a "garage laptop" that gets left out in my garage just for the purpose of looking up repair information on the DVDs (and TRS, of course).

Where can I get a shop manual for an 88 in electronic form?

That is full of win!

I've been looking for an online version to download(torrent) forever now. lol.

Haynes is ok for some things, not so great for others.

I purchased on to help me with my B2. so far, it hasn't helped much. It's lacking in information, even some basic stuff.

I also have one for my 2000 Grand Caravan. It's useless. The tear down for certain parts is so far off.

I had a Chilton from the early 90's for my Ranger until my idiot son left it outside in the rain and ruined it.

I'm surprised someone doesn't post links for Factory or dealership repair manuals. Those are pretty great. I've got a few for my Jeep.

I've always tried to obtain the factory shop manual sets for all the vehicles I've owned. I keep them, even after selling/trading off the vehicle (book junkie, too). I've found that most, if not all, the photos in Haynes and Chilton's are taken directly from the OEM shop manuals. I prefer Chilton's, but have learned to accept Haynes when Chilton's isn't available quickly.

I have one for my Volvo.. It told me exactly what I did wrong on my radiator flush last fall.. Lol

My first girlfriend's mom kicked me out of their house...she caught me playing with my girlfriend's Volvo.....lol

haynes, chiltons, oem......not as good as alldata. a vast majority of repair shops use alldata. including dealerships. i even used to be the service manager of a mitsubishi dealership that used alldata about 10 times more often than the factory service manuals on the shelf. we used alldatapro shich had no limit but the average joe can have 1 vehicle's alldata for $25

i rebuilt a 2007 2.4l chrysler sebing engine that the chrysler dealership said "the shop manual doesn't have rebuild specs because that engine isn't rebuildable. we are instructed to order a new long-block" and when i called b.S. i even talked to their head "engine tech" who went o chrysler engine school who told me the same thing. but alldata had every torque spec, bearing spec, crank thrust spec, and the procedures on how to do it

when you compare $25 of alldata to the $100+ for just about every factory manual out there........there is no comparison even if the prices were flipped and alldata was $100+ it would still be worth it

and all of alldata's pictures, and procedures are specific to that year vehicle, with that engine. none of that "1983-1988 ford ranger typical" caption over diagrams and instructions

I've never used alldata, I might have to look into it.

Try the alldata that cammeddrz mentioned. I've never seen an '88 Service Manual electronically.

I bought mine on ebay. Pretty reasonably priced, too. I assume that they were versions that the dealership was getting rid of because they were superceded by a more current revision, either that or the dealership went of of business.

alldata has the 1988 in electronic form thats the same year as mine

also alldata has the factory warranty labor hour rates and the standard repai hour rates for all jobs/repairs (you can tell if a repair shop is screwing you)

hayne's manuel is a shit ,but chilton too is a shit .I prefer to use my head more than the book

amazon is the devil...they support a complete ban on .50 caliber weapons, if you buy books off of their website by going through a different link (try a google search) a portion of the sale gets donated directly towards campaigning for gun bans....

AMAZON=EVIL..boycott them, and let them know why you are boycotting them..ok i'll get off my soapbox now..back on topic, :icon_thumby:

Proof?

My first girlfriend's mom kicked me out of their house...she caught me playing with my girlfriend's Volvo.....lol

So if I was goofing off with your girlfriends volvo and it sprung a leak out of it's gusher valve you would kick me out of said house/garage?
