I had a friend that claimed he did, but the best I ever got out of mine was around 19 mpg's. My window sticker said 19 city, 24 highway. Just currious, thanks.

Hmmm, I get 20mpg out of my 1990 B2 with the 2.9, and let me tell you, I am NOT kind to it! Frequent ventures into the 5k RPM range, mix of city and freeway driving, A/C running on full. It is a 5-speed, and a 2wd, so that might help a little. Im sure if I actually was kind to it, and didnt try to race up to speed from every stop light, I could get better than 20. Its a 23 gal tank, and I go about 400 miles to a 20 gal fillup, and my speedo is almost nuts on per GPS, so Im pretty confident in the math.

i get right about 22mpg average out of my 91 ranger 2.9 5spd, but im yet to get it over 3750 before shifting. a full tank of gas will get me to work and back for two weeks

I've managed 24mpg with a 4wd Bronco II. Seems to me AllanD could pull 26mpg out of his, but I'd have to dig back through his posts to verify that.

22 here not too long ago. Basically a whole "highway" trip where it was mostly 35 mph the whole way.

I know people with 2.9s regularly get 22-25MPG out of them with the 5spd. Doubt the auto will manage that though.

i calculated it but i drive like an a-hole, im getting like 24 and it helps to put a air intake filter on. i bought a 30 dollar one from autozone and it makes the engine sound good. plus it hose-clamps right on.

the last time i checked it...

i got 25.6 average on a combo of about 70/30% hwy/town driving....on an 88 B2 2.9L 5spd...215R15's w 3:45 R/A

I DO upshift at about 2000 or so..and sometimes skip a gear....

runs great....no oil use either....

I get a consistent 17.5 mpg no matter if I beat it or drive it nice, it's always within a couple of tenths of that. But with 33 inch tires, 4.56 gears, and a 6 inch lift, it's not too bad of a figure

I was never able to get above 20 mpg with my 89 4WD STX with a 2.9L w/ 5 speed. My wife was able to get about 22 mpg on a long trip when she did most of the driving. My heavy foot killed the gas mileage.

the best i've gotten out of my '88 is 24.9. It got 21-23 regularly.

my pops gets 26.5 tank after tank on his BII. 90 2.9 2wd 5spd
