I need a new set of tires for one more year before I move and sell my truck. So I'm trying to not spend a lot. Right now i have some really worn out summer tires.
Coming into winter I need a new set of studded tires. i can buy studded tires and when next spring rolls around can spend a day popping the studs out. Or has anyone bought some tires and installed their own studs? There are boxes of screw studs with a drill adapter so you can screw them in but I'm wondering if anyone had any experience with these?
Studded tires would be more expensive upfront and either way I plan on pulling studs regardless.

I know a guy who used to work in a tire shop, at least some studded snow tires are just the normal model with studs installed by the tire shop employees on site. I've never heard of someone removing them but it's probably possible.

I've removed studs in the past. With a flathead screwdriver and some elbow grease it will take whole day by yourself.
