what do i need to put a 3.0 in my 87 ranger 2.0? do i need a donor truck? and do i need a new trans?

ALOT of work... If you're going through that much work why pick the 3.0L? I'd just go for a carb 5.0L swap... Easiest one to do... If you really want to try something hard the 4.0L is lightyears better than the 3.0L...
You could go with a 2.3 which is a significant jump in horsepower... Honestly, a 302 won't get terrible fuel mileage... You could easily get 16-18 combined no problem... My V8 Explorer can get 20-22 mpg highway no problem... 16-18 city...
dose the 2.3 bolt up to the stock motor mounts?
As long as it's from a Ranger or Mustang it will...only difference is between automatic and manual transmissions...if you're going to go with a different tranny just make sure you get all the parts needed...(and you may need a new rad if you go manual to automatic)...
If you can find a vehicle with a good motor and transmission grab it...
how hard is the 2.3 to wire up ? i have little to none wiring xp![]()
