hard start 2001

You know I am experiencing a similar issue now that the mornings are getting a bit colder, I find my 2006 4.0L has a slight hesitation when trying to start it. When the motor is warm/hot it starts up right away but once it sits overnight and I go to start it in the morning, it doesn't fire right away. I am going to try the cycling the key a few times to see if that fixes it.

is the maintenance up to date ie fuel filter, including cleaning the iacv and maf? is the cel on?

If that don't fix it then I'd install a new temp sender for the computer. Them senders go away and when they do they usually lie to the computer and tell it the engine is already up to temp. So the mixture is too lean and the timng is too advanced for the engine to start and run well until it is REALLY up to temperature.
