Ahh, here we go again.....I totally understand your point... but it takes more than that.
Its not like I can grow a gun in my closet and sell it down the street. That gun has to be manufactured somewhere, ect.
95% of the guns taken in gang busts up here are illegally imported from the US... Your lack of gun control is having a direct effect on our need for it.
I dont think you shouldn't be allowed to own guns, but you should have to pass a freakin' test (on a regular basis, too) and there needs to be serious controls on the supply of guns.
Gun show loop holes shouldn't exist, for instance.
You obviously know nothing about improvised weapons - anyone that can turn a wrench to work on a truck or the like has the ability to build such weapons. So yes, it can't be grown in a closet... but it can be manufactured in your garage. Thus banning firearms has no impact on the criminal element - it only strips rights from the honest folk.
And the so-called "gun show loophole?" Please. You obviously have not been to any in the States lately.... They check your ID at the door, they have police standing guard at the doors, there is likely undercover Police, FBI and BATF circulating the show, and background checks are done with the exception of long guns, but anyone can buy those out of the local newspaper without any permits or such. However, even if you buy a long gun from a dealer, you still get the background check. And if you buy from a private individual you still have to go through the transfer of ownership paperwork, so serial numbers and the like are all properly recorded. Yea, some loophole.
