Gt-12

I would rather work outside.........better light.

me too.unfortunately, this time of year there's precious little of that.

i'm happy to have my little corner of the basement....but it's no replacement for the great outdoors.that's why i love summer here so much,i can work till 11pm no problem.

the carb surround thingy....starts out with a plywood form.but rather than forming the metal over this one,it's mostly to check clearances.

gt6002-55.jpg

with the hood open a little bit,i can see just how much room i have at the back of the carbs as the hood is being opened.i started with the opennings tight to the carbs and trimmed out little bits till the hood would open without anything hitting.

once i was certain everything cleared,it was time to start cutting metal.

gt6005-33.jpg

a bit'o'bending,i got a start on it.

gt6006-20.jpg

some more trimming and forming,it's starting to take shape.

with the front formed,i have a little too much of a hump on it....this will be fairly easy to settle down.

the latest overall view.this is why i needed to get the hood hung,i needed to know just how it would clear those carbs when being openned.

i think you covered the paint scheme a while back but would you mind refreshing my memory? if you paint it black you need a fedora and a tommy gun.

i'll still need that fedora....tommy gun's just for show:D

has that ever stopped you from doing anything?

gotta say i think i liked it better b4 you put that on it doesnt fit the shape of the car. now im sure it isnt done either knowing you haha

that was actually my thought, too.there's still a lot of tweaking to be done, and once it's fully blended in i'm sure it'll be better.
thing is,i didn't just want a big gaping hole around the carbs, and that meant bringing the level up to get an openning that would still clear when opening the hood, plus it stiffens up the hood around the openning.

you know how i am...if after working it for a while i still don't like it,i'll chop it out and try something else.

i've been trimming, hammering and tacking this thing today-and i think it'll work out ok.it's starting to look a bit less tacked on,more blended in.

the back end will have to wait a bit to be hammered out....

because some fool went and put a bunch of bracing in the way.oh,well-no biggie.

The front flows much better now! I was going to say the back looked a bit to squared or something, but looks like you probably already have the idea.
