You mean to tell me you can't see in the dark? I thought that was a prerequisite to live on the island

nah,we're all pussys here.we just hide inside and wait till summer when the sun just doesn't go down.

I should have known that, i watch how i met your mother after all.

sorry,i'll have to guess at the significance of that reference,as i actually have not seen that show.:icon_confused::D

I've been wanting to veneer the steel gauge cluster I made for my truck with birch, but wasn't sure the best way to fasten it to the metal - do you have any thoughts on this?

I'd think you'd be able to find an iron-on veneer... Rough it up and iron away.

Birds eye maple would be awesome, spalted maple is cool too. Since you seem to be around boats a lot, I'll throw teak out there. Or Ironwood. That stuff looks like sex with some varnish on it. Costs about as much though too. :icon_twisted:

Just read from start to finish, and I have to say that you should definitely go with the bird's eye maple... and awesome build!

birdseye is at the top of the list right now,but theres still time to choose.

Time to open up a new photobucket account Tom! Bandwidth exceeded. Or cough up the $3 and go Pro to have all the ones on here pop back up before next month.

it resets on the 11th of the month, and it's usually getting close.guess i'll pop for the pro edition.

there....i'll just add that to the cost of the build:icon_thumby:

im assuming u have your own business for the boats and all that just throw ur comanys name on the car somewhere then its all an "advertisment" lol and write it off on the taxes

I think you should go with osage wood (we call it Hedge wood though)

it is pretty tough wood, its pretty resistant to everything.

(I bet you could weld with it if you wanted too. :icon_rofl: )

primary tubes welded.note that the j-bends i am using to make these from are aluminized material.i've found that if i run a wire brush over the welds when still hot it spreads this coating over the weld, improving the looks as well as the corrosion resistance.

now i set them up in pairs with the primary collectors.

are you going to polish the headers or wrap them?

no,i think they'll do as they are.i may send them out to be ceramic coated, but that will be a wait and see thing.

i got the parts bolted back to the engine so i can get the secondarys set up.getting close to having this one finished.

for those that like to keep track of such things, this header when done will be made from 58 seperately fitted and welded pieces.
