Wow 43 posts just to round the edges on your new cabinet. Y'all need to stop posting so much so he can get more work done. So says the guy who hasn't touched either of his trucks in two weeks. ***Damn I'm slow typing, you work way faster than I can type. Maybe you should stop to post a little more often then.***
Took a gander at that explorer that I mentioned a few days and many posts ago, and walked away as fast as I could. While it looked like it may have the potential to be a good donor I didn't like the situation and don't need a seventh vehicle in the yard right now. The seller turned out to be a large local auto repair/salvage yard. It had taken a pretty good smack to the front driver side. In the ad they said it would run but when talking to the guy he said it would not even turn over. "the starter makes a noise like it's trying to turn, but then stops" and he didn't even try to demonstrate. The company does repair work, body and sales salvage parts. Yet they were trying to sell me a complete "good running" Explorer for $500, they could have gotten more than that for the engine alone. Something just didn't seem right about the deal so I walked.
I think I made the right decision. The engine would have gone into the 86 ranger that is replacing the 84 in my sig. Since I have a barely used and slightly built 2.8L V6 in there that I want to get some use out of, I'm not in a rush to find another motor. If I want to go with the V8 I'll buy a block and go from there, I'd have more fun building it up from a bare block anyway. Can anyone say 331 or 347 stroker? It also leaves me open to other engine options. I'm also thinking about the new Ford V6s, they're getting pretty decent power these days from what I've read.
