I've searched as well as asked this in the towing forum.

Vehicle: 2004 XLT Super Cab 4.0L Auto 4x4

I'm pretty sure the truck came with a factory tow package. I'm going to wire a 7 pin electrical connector and add a brake controller.

Question: Is there a grounding point somewhere near the license plate/hitch receiver or driver's side tail lights? I'd prefer to use a factory ground point because other ground wires terminate there and I can ensure the connections are clean and protected. The 7 pin wiring harness has a ground wire with ring terminal and I'd prefer not to run a drill screw into/thru the frame (like they do in the install videos).

TIA, Dave.

you could always tap into a ground wire off of the license plate light, Ive done that before. I think the kits that plug into the factory harness pick up a ground from that point.
