I was just reading in one of my Jeep magazines (yes, I am a closet jeep enthusiast) on how they used their OEM Sanden A/C compressor for OBA but INSTEAD of using oil for lubrication, they used GREASE (high temp synthetic racing grease) and it's worked for them. I think I might give this a try with our OEM AC compressor or try to adapt a jeep AC compressor for this application.

Thoughts?

my thoughts, go find a york a/c compressor out of an early model ranger, they work PERFECTLY!, and have a oil reservoir so the lubrication does not come from the refrigerant...

my thoughts as to the grease in place of the oil? what happens when you put 75-90 gear oil in your 3L that is designed to run 5-20? or gl5 in your manual tranny that is designed for ATF? (not the t5, because iirc, it can use either) the small passages don't get lubricated and such... it will work alright for a while then dry up...

Yea, it makes sense. I've just never heard of this being done before and thought I'd mention it. It was a very interesting article.
