got the new governor and gasket in from ebay... the governor was an NOS (new old stock) i found on ebay.
put it in with alittle red lock tite on the bolts, puts some black rtv around the round housing of the transfer case... and then stuck the gasket on and then put another layer of black rtv so when it mates to the extension housing....
had to have my dad come over with a larger jack because the transfer case was too oddly shaped for my small floor jack...
but we got it on, tightend everything down and reassembled everything that was taken apart, i.e. the front drive shaft and rear drive shaft...
topped the fluid off after letting the truck warm up... then test drove it... it shifted earlier than it has ever shifted!
shifted great! drove it to my local autozone which is about 20mins away to top the tranny off with 1 more qt of tranny fluid and its great!
so as long as the a4ld can survive until atleast next years taxes then i may be able to convince my wife next year to let me do the m50d conversion...
im thinking im gonna get a tranny jack from harbor freight because it would have made this a hell of alot easier and its good insurance for next year's hopeful tranny swap.
also replaced all 4 shock for some gabriel shocks from autozone... 100$ for all 4...
i would have loved to get some KYB's that they carry, but im trying to keep this on somewhat of a budget also...
my front passenger jack was able to go up and down like there was no piston or fluid/gas in it at all... lol
the other 3 felt like they had some type of fluid in them but you just push it in and they didnt push back out at all....
so the 4 new shocks really help with the ride but enough off topic bable...
with a tranny jack and a new governor, gasket and rtv all ready to go back in this could probably be done in 3 - 4 hours taking your time.... pretty simple, just steps you gotta go thru to get it done....
