Well today I was looking on craigslist and I seen a 89 Bronco ii forsale well its pretty dang nice and its got low miles, he wants my 2000 Ford focus 5 speed but its on loan, he offered to trade me his Bronco for my car and he would pay off my loan. I kind of want to get out of my loan but do u guys think this is worth it for a basically rust free Bronco ii?

well how much do you think the focus is worth vs how much you still own? if you owe mor than it's worth then yea i would take the trade and get out from under it, just make sure you both go in and swap the loan over to his name so you dont get screwed over down the road.

Well its to a dealer, he said the loan would get paid and I would get the Bronco. And the car isn't worth much more then what I have left on the loan, so it might be a good idea for me to get out of the car.

I would do it because I'm not a car person LOL, but then again how good a shape is the B2 compared to your car? Is the B2 gonna die once you drive it away, etc.

Yeah that's more I'm looking into tomorrow hopefully. Its really clean looking but you never know.

Probably not a good deal...

The dealer is going to pay off your loan and tack what you owe minus the value of the Focus on top of what you are paying for the B2. so you will be way underwater on what the B2 is worth. so if you owe $2000 on the Focus is worth $1000 and he wants $1500 for the B2, you will be paying $2500 for it. I would think long an hard on paying that much for a vehicle that has not been made in 20+ years as a replacement for a daily driver. If the Focus is a complete POS that might make a difference.

Make sure you look at what the trade in value is for the Focus. I see a potential to get screwed royally.

^^ Yep...what he said. The dealer is there to make money. He will make money off your car and you get a much older vehicle?? Nah...don't do it. Then you have nothing to drive if that BII breaks down on you? The Focus is much better to own. Save up some money and buy what you want. I have a buddy who bought a really nice 88 BII 4x4 with 110,000 original miles from the original owner for $2,200. New 33x12.5 AT Wranglers. The Bronco looks so nice and clean. Just save and wait, Bro.

Yeah, I really want to get out of this car because I've a lot of bad things about Ford's 2.0 split port motor and that's what my focus has in it. He has a really clean 95 f150 2wd 5 speed with the straight six. It runs great and looks great, he's asking 3900 but I dot think it would be a good idea to owe on a 95 truck

It's This simple.... the dealer is "looking for a car like yours" (has a buyer already for it), You on the other hand most likely clued the dealer into the amount you owe on the car....

The dealer is NOT your friend, he will make money on you, and YOU will pay the price, period, it's that simple.

walk away, when I deal sound "too good to be true, it usually is".

Doesn't matter what you get into you are still gonna be paying off that loan on the car. If the car is running good drive it till it dies. I've learned my lesson on trying to get into a new car because my old one had lots of miles, turns out sometimes that the old car was better than the new one.

Yeah the '00 Focus' could be problematic depending on engine and trans.
But, is 30+ mpg loss to the Bronco 20+ maybe worth it? Is it 4x4?
Is your Focus being a problem?

Engine replacement in either is a grand +- depending on what route you go.

I for one wouldn't trade my '03 for one, unless I had to have 4x and carry 4 passengers. But even then I would have to think on it.

The guys are right, the dealer isn't your friend. He is going to make $'s whether it's off you or the next guy in the door.
The deal probably really looks like:
You give the dealer your Focus + 2K and get the B2.
Or he figures he can sell your Focus for 2500+ and still make money because he has a 'newer' car to sell and traded next to nothing to get the B2.

Good luck
Rich

Don't be afraid of the 2.0 SPI, if it hasn't given you problems yet. Some of them have a tendency to drop an exhaust valve (mine did). But, other than that, they are usually dead reliable. If you really want the B2, sell your Focus somewhere else for what it is actually worth. Take your cash and buy the B2, and you should have plenty left over for the things that will inevitable need to be repaired down the road.

Id avoid the spi. The bottom ends go out too.

brother rat he said he owes more than what it's worth so if he sells it for what its worth he would still have to pay off the loan then be left without a vehicle
