I am finally going to upgrade to Vista. I have it on my other PC, but am now putting it on my main PC. I have a copy of Vista Home Premium from when CompUSA went out of business.

I ordered a 1.5TB hard drive from newegg and am doing a fresh install tonight.

It will be a far cry bigger than my current 250GB drive I'm using now!

Sweet i just picked up a hard drive for my buddies laptop from newegg...great prices and fast shipping.

Nice hdd. Thats like a mad crazy amount of storage. 250 movies @ 4.7Gbs

Sweet.

i would like 1.5T and more bandwidth please

Make sure your mother board can accept that large of a hard drive.

Does it draw any extra power compared to your current hard drive? If it does, then you may want to consider upgrading the power supply also.

Funny you mention that.. Just last week I got an email from my ISP saying they raised me to 8Mbps from 4Mbps for free!!

The HP power supply went out a while ago, I have an aftermarket in there now.

I also have a second 300GB drive running off it. I think I will be good.

ive noticed i take up way less drive space than everyone around me...my desktop only has 190gigs total (between 2 drives) and i only have a fraction of it used up...despite it being loaded with games, music, media, ect...:icon_confused:

next time i upgrade i wont have much of a choice though, its getting pretty hard to come by drives under 200gigs. looks like im going to have to ditch the IDE and go to SATA too.

I don't mind SATA drives, except the cords are SO fragile.

Wtf do you need 1,500GB for? LOL

Edit:
Delete or burn the shit you don't use anymore, that's a free solution. Or are you one of those one people who whorde GBs of pirated data, just to have it?

I still have a 1.5Mbps/768 DSL connection at home (I do get it for free), but I don't really need anything faster than that.

1.5TB? Damn, you'll never need another drive as long as you live. Though I guess some people use their computer more than I do. I got my laptop over 2 years ago with a 120GB hard drive and still have yet to come close to filling it. It is only a school computer however. I don't know a ton about computers but it sounds like you got a pretty sweet setup. Congrats.

1.5 TB isn't that big.

Some of the old farts might remember when the first GB hard disks came out. They seemed enormous. My very first hard disk was 10 MB. My very first server had a whopping 330 MB "shoebox." With over 100 accounts on it.

And Vista is a huge pig. I've got a flight simulator running on the same machine (3 GHz dual core with 2GB RAM), under Vista and under Debian. The Vista version is unusable.

I just looked at my harddrive--37.2GB with 10.5GB free.

Guess I'll put off that 1.5T upgrade for a few weeks.

I do remember the first computer I had when I was 6, it was an 80x86 Tandy 1000 with BasicA. Had some old version of MS-DOS (3?). My dad had to solder the actual memory chips on the board to upgrade it. Only had a 5 1/4" floppy. I missed the 286s, and got a 386SX 10mhz. I can't recall what hard drive it had, but I remember playing Wolfenstien 1 on it frequently.

My dad bought me Borland C++ 1.0 through his work, and I remember something being weird since my board actually didn't have a math co-processor.

I think at one point I paid $100 for an 8mb chip of ram to be able to play Need for Speed 1 at a computer show. Took forever to save for. That's back when games came on 3 1/2" disks only. And am I ever so thankful those days are over, NOTHING but disk errors.

My first cd-burner was only 1x. :D

My brother had one of those bombs with no hard drive at all, had to boot it off of 5.25 floppies. I remember him playing "larry liesure suit" for hours. Kinda like buying a $4000 plasma TV to watch the brady bunch...
