Got a quick question bout Transmissions

Ok, My reverse just went out in my 97 3.0 auto 2wd...

Thinking about options, I know, Iknow, switch to a 5 speed..lol

But seriously, Is the 4.0 and 3.0 the same tranny? or the 2.3 the same as the 3.0? anything swapable?

Looking for all my options...I can get mine fixed for about 500 bux...

Hello

The 2.8l,2.9l and 4.0l have the same bell housing. I think 2.3l and 3.0l have the same bell housing , I could be wrong on the 2.3/3.0l.

I saw them side almost side by side in the junkyard today... the 2.3 and 3.0 looked alomst the same, not sure if it works though... see one out of a 3.0 is $600.00 and the 2.3 is only $300.00..

3.0L has its own specific bellhousing.

dang that sux, the 2.3l are easy to find i cant find a good 3.0l 2wd trans anywhere... I love these trucks but dang...
