hey everyone, i have a quick question

ive got an '86 ranger with a 2.9l v6. i just put a tach in it, and have no idea what the red line is

i was told the max HP was around 4600 so it couldnt be too much higher....
thanks!!

the factory tach in my 86 redlines at 5500 it was a 2.9 at one time

I've read that the stock PCM limits the RPM at 6,250, but I've never gotten that high, I am not a big fan of neutral revving (you're not making power that high, it's a waste..). Typically, my A4LD would shift @ around 5500 RPM tops, even then, that was beyond where it was making good power..

ok everyone i appreiciate it

Yup, 5500, I hit 6200 a couple times with mine briefly and let off so I don't know if the PCM actually limits it or not.
