Hi, I just purchased a 1994 ranger xlt 4x4 and have been through some apparently well known problems like the rubber caps on the shifter housing and putting a bushing kit on the shift knuckle itself. Other than this I have found the truck very sound and reliable; until last night. I pulled into the gas station and filled up the truck. The first thing I noticed was that the cap was very difficult to remove. After finishing off the filling, I replaced the cap and noticed a good bit of gas on the ground. Finally after starting the truck, it idled around 200 rpm and had no throttle response. I removed the fuel pump relay and put it back in and the truck which completely resolved the issue. My question is what the hell caused this and will it happen every time I fill up?
