So I hope I got a good deal from Walmart. 20v Hyper Tough combo kit comes with drill, impact, Sawzall and flashlight, and 2 batteries for $50 even. I say hope because the first one I got the drill wouldn't work unless you pushed on the housing then it would make contact and work and the light on the impact was very dim. So I took it back and exchanged it with another and tested everything before I left and they were all good. I'm not expecting this to compete with my earthquake stuff but for the price it's like a sore dick, can't beat it! I really got it because ive been wanting a battery operated Sawzall for some time but never found any good deals. I used the Sawzall to cut the metal lid off a 55 gallon drum and it was ok. Could have been better but not complaining when I spent pretty much $7 for it (7 piece kit for $50). Havent tried using the impact on a 3" screw yet but I watched some vids on it and it seems like it will do for basic projects or keep in the vehicle (not this time of year) for whatever. THEN, I make my way to harbor freight and was in the clearance section and found a 3/8" earthquake impact with no battery or anything. It had a price of $128.00 but they had a sign that said 50% off sticker price. Then I had a 30% off coupon and a $5 off any purchase over $50. So I got the impact, magnetic screwdriver set, pick set, free flashlight, and black rtv for $79.00.... So a HECK of a good deal. I got the 1/2" earthquake and love it so I expect good things from the 3/8" impact as well. Just wanted to brag for a bit.

Some of that Hyper Tough stuff is total shit. It's not as bad as the previous wally world tools... dura-steel or something like that, but it's not good.

The rest is actually not bad. I found a pry bar at the pawn shop last week that is 100% identical to the Craftsman one I bought a few years ago, the handle is just a different color. It's even marked Made in USA. Very weird.

In any case, I almost never buy cheap tools, especially not power tools. I also rarely buy new, name brand anything... 99% of my good tools have been lightly used pawn shop, thrift store or yard sale finds at a tiny fraction of what they cost new. Just gotta be committed to shopping around frequently and have a couple hundred dollars of disposable income on hand at all times in case you run across a smoking good deal.

For occasional use I'm sure those super cheap cordless sets are OK, I'd just hate to be frustrated with dead batteries and no chance of replacements after a couple years. The whole set is just trash at that point. I think it's worth the minimal extra expense to buy a quality set... I can still get brand new 18v DeWalt batteries and some of my tools are nearly 20 years old now!

I have nice power tools as well that I use frequently so I'm not concerned about batteries dying. Did I mention these have a 2 year manufacture warranty? All I gotta do is fill out the cards and mail them in. So these are guaranteed for 2 years as long as they don't go out of business. Like I said, I'm not expecting much from them and mainly wanted the Sawzall. To buy just the sawzall with a battery was $40.00... so why not buy the kit with 2 batteries and all the other tools. The flashlight is pretty nice too. Haven't tried the impact or drill but I'm sure they will work fine. My other drills/impacts are either DeWalt or Earthquake for bigger stuff and then 12v craftsman nextec for smaller stuff. Pawn shop stuff is fine if you like taking chances.... I could see someone trading in worn out drills that have a good battery for about 5 minutes and then its dead. Pawn shops around here charge more than stores charge for new shit. Not really any good deals at pawn shops around here. They tend to not get new stuff and don't care if you don't like the prices. I'd rather buy new, save the receipt or fill out the warranty card and have a warranty than risk buying someone else's junk that they wore out. And yes, if it says "made in USA" then it will more than likely be good but you normally pay for that stamp too don't forget.
