Welcome Visitor! Please take a few seconds and It's not about screwing up the cheap labor in China. It's about giving people a better life, by providing quality benefits that will always be there. Heath Insurance, retirement, a set wage, overtime, training.....it's all in a contract. It can't be taken away with the snap of your fingers. It can be negotiated. Non-union employees don't have assurance you're going to be working the next day. The owners of these companies can simply pull anything out from under you at ANY given time. They don't have to pay you what they do, and don't have to provide you any benefits.
You really shouldn't put unions down. Like I said before, this country is a union, each military branch is a union of it's own. The vast majority of firefighters in America are union, so when you say "nay against unions," I say "Let your house burn to the ground." Every one of the fire fighters lost on 9/11 was a union firefighter. Many more lives would have been lost if they weren't there. For that matter, buildings that size were more than likely erected from union contruction trades. I always find it odd.........the government is continuously attacking unions, yet EVERY government job I've been on (schools, fire department, libraries, DMV, etc.), whether it's city, county, state, or federal, almost every trade is UNION.
Membership? Yes, the more members we have, the stronger we are, and the harder to break us.
Dues??? HAHA. ROTFLMAO
The amount of money I spend on dues each month subtracted from the amount of money I make month, is over twice the amount a non-union sheetmetal worker makes.
