I've got 2 hours to decide if I will buy this truck (97 ext.cab 2wd-$2k). Had 3, but wasted one trying to find a photo looking down into the oil filler cap of a 2.3L.
Posting in hopes someone can tell me if it is normal for there to be a pool of oil, and I mean standing, un-moving oil, in the cam area just inside cover while idling.
The truck's in overall good shape, seems well maintained, but I have never seen anything like this. Appreciate any help, and am looking forward to joining the forum....thanks

i wouldnt let that scare me... there is a baffle just inside the filler cap to keep oil from splashing when the cap is removed with engine running, it may have a little trapped in there.

I didn't poke around. Could be a baffle, more like a dam though. Just thought it looked like a lot, and no motion. This was maybe an inch deep?
I have an 85 Toyota 4x4 that you can look all over inside the valve cover through the filler hole...
