Lincoln MKZ hybrid has the same starting price as the regualr gasoline model. There is no "extra cost." Your point is invalid.

Furthermore, it's absurd to make blanket statements like that. What's cost effective and practical for one person may be never pay off for another.

They aready have enough of a markup on a recycled Ford they probably eat the difference in hopes of selling a few.

Usually a hybrid does cost more than a comparable car. It has everything a normal gas car has PLUS all the hybrid stuff.

And above that they are popular... so they could charge more for them even if it didn't cost more to make.

Aside from the fact that the only way to get one for the same price as a gas drive is to buy an glorified Ford Fusion at a mark up...

Not everybody lives in the city, 35mpg highway is hardly groundbreaking.

If you really want to save on gas just buy a motorcycle. Even the quick ones can get 35+ miles to a gallon, just a matter of staying alive long enough to take advantage of that. Plus, except for moms and wives, chicks seem to like them.

No no no, its there to keep the power up, off the line with instant acceleration, giving power when changing gears that sort of thing.
