girlfriends

im using my moms truck since she is having elbow surgery tomorrow and cant drive for two months. do u guys think i could get the swap done in a month if i work on it everyday?

Probably, I know of people on here who have done most of a V8 swap in a weekend (I'm definitely not one of them).

BTW how is the Boeing job deal going. Were you just waiting on a start date or something? You may have said in the other thread and I just can't remember.

well i lost my girl over my truck, she thought she could tell me to sell my truck and give up the job for boeing just so i would stay here and have kids with her. That didnt go so well for her when i said it was over since she tried taking over my life, i mean my b2 may not be my first or last truck but its never gonna leave my life i love the thing to much to let it. plus come to find out there was 5 other guys in her life for the last two months so now all the money goes towards my truck, hunting, and moving for the job. end rant

hmmm.

i think my wife would run me off if i got rid of my truck.:icon_rofl:

i know the kids would be pissed.

so it sucks for you to have had to deal with that shit.

Haha, my wife has told me, in as many words, that she will leave me if I ever get rid of my truck.

I took her out on our first date in that truck, with it barely running (funny what happens when you leave the roll pin out of the dis gear), after which she promptly went home and told her mother "I am not going to see him again".

Depends on how you work, I have seen people fight all day with some pretty stupid simple stuff. :icon_twisted:

I made nice and sure my Wife knew the Stang was around for the long haul. After our first daughter was born prematurely, we had some pretty hefty hospital bills, and some medications thereafter that were not covered by insurance (RSV vaccination). I had some thoughts on how to acquire the money which included the possibility of selling the Mustang. I mentioned that I could sell the it off to pay for the bills and I about got slapped. She talked me out of it... albeit she didn't need to twist my arm at all.

a month working on it every day? if you've got sleep, a few friends to stop by here and there, all the tools you need, and a basic knowledge of what you're doing, it shouldn't be an issue... as shane? said, it can be done in a weekend...

i've had the motor in my mustang pulled, engine mounts changed, oil pan gasket replaced, motor back in and running in 4 school days (highschool) so that's like 5 hours a day, but only 2-3/4 blocks, so 2.5-3.75 hrs a day x 4 days, so 13 hours labour...

if it's the same motor going in as coming out, you shouldn't have any issues... if it's a different motor, you might have issues with wiring

If your doing a 2.9 to 4.0 swap and you got the whole Explorer, and you read up in the tech forum, you should be able to do it in a weekend, the 4.0 is a bolt in swap where the 2.8-2.9 use to be, it's the wiring that is a killer, but if you follow the tech forum, all your problems would be solved there.

Not saying it isn't possible to do a swap in a weekend.... I'm remembering back to when I was just out of school and the neighbor asked me to swap motors in his chevy truck. I had a fairly good grasp of what to do and I did it in a weekend. BUT it was a forty hour weekend. Doing it in the dirt drive way with an a-frame and basic hand tools didn't help and there is always something "simple" that takes ten times longer than it should. I'm sure you will accomplish what you set out to do but make sure you are on top of it. In other words, don't let the time slip away.
Good luck.

Wow....my gf WANTS to help me with the truck (even tho she's a chebby girl). She's a diesel mechanic so that really helps lol.

Make you give up a JOB? That woman is ridiculous. How are you going to support kids without a job? Maybe she should be the one making some compromises if that's what she wants. Absurd, making you give up a hobby and a career.

It sounds like she knew you wouldn't give up either and WANTED a breakup.

Do the V8 swap and get some travel time in. Take a vacation overseas for a week or so if you can manage it. You're young, do it now while you can.

cant do it armadillon i need an ok gas millage suv lol plus im quiting my job tomorrow cause my boss owes me 2000 grand and thinks he can treat me like shit even tho i do all the work he is suppose to be doing and im tired of it he thinks i need that job which i dont i need the boeing job
