getting stuck spark plug wires out,2002 2.3 engine

Hello all,they don't seem to want to come out with even what I consider close to breaking point force using a boot plier. (yes they have been in there longer than they should) Any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Use a stiff wire, bent like a coat hanger hook and put it under each boot and move it around the edge, similar to removing a stubborn heater or radiator hose, using a screwdriver.
