I am looking to upgrade the tires, I am looking into the general grabber at2. I have heard good and bad things.

Help please.

Are they comparable to bfg a/t's? Or is that just a myth?

:shok::dunno::icon_confused: Beats the hell outta me.

iv heard some bad reviews about them

and yes thats a myth

they grabbers have the same tread pattern and milage warranty as the bfgs. i have the grabbers on my 89 and i love them

my girlfriends dad is running them on his f150 and they seem to be doing pretty good. i drove it today and theyre quiet and had pretty good traction in the snow.

never had them just passing along what i heard

I love mine more than I liked my bfg's.

I wore the hell out of my bfg's. The grabbers are already holding up better, and my driving hasnt changed, and I rotate them less often than I rotated the BFG's. They do better in snow compared to my bfgs, and clear mud better, but still not great. They handle well on the road. No hydroplaning at all in hard rain.
The grabbers have a more aggressive "side biting" tread on the shoulders.

And looks are pretty aggressive. And also very inexpensive.

i love my at2s!!! i have them on my 03 and they have taken that truck everywhere. the older grabber ats were the bad ones. whatever General did they made a dang good tire with the at2s. clean better in the snow than the bfgs. plus their at least 20-30 cheaper than the bfgs!!

General tire has really turned itself around after being purchased by the Continental group. And not just the at2's; the whole line seems to be moving in the direction of much higher quality/performance, while still retaining reasonable prices. When I was shopping for tires I did notice the price on the grabbers go up about $15 in less than two months (in the size I was looking at anyhow), so you know they are becoming more popular. I ended up going with Firestone destination AT's, and am satisfied with my decision. They have been damn good tires so far.

Now if Conti would do something about improving their own line of tires...

Awesome! Thanks everyone. I am greatly considering these tires, but my dad said general tires are bad. But i guess they turned around, so yay!

Yeah I thought they were total crap for the longest time, too. If you even get the chance, compare some of the old Grabbers (before Conti took over) to the AT2's, the improvement in quality is obvious!

?Hmmm... This guy I work with named Calvin is 49 and he says that general tires (obviously not Grabber's) were the first tires he ever purchased for a car when he was 16, and he says he loved them. He has tried more expensive "name brand" tires and said he never liked them as much. Nowadays He has a set on his nissan 240, and another set on his subaru.

Yeah I used to work at Big O a couple years ago and the anti-general sentiments ran high in the shop...guess my time working there influenced my perception a little bit. There is a full-size bronco 2 or 3 houses down the street from where I live that has a set of the old Grabbers on it. They look absolutely nothing like the new ones; I had no idea until I looked at the sidewalls.

p.s: I like Firestone and they haven't exactly had the best reputation for quality so what does that tell you lol

I guess I'm just surprised that they used to be crappy since I've only heard about how much he loved them. They might have had a big shat streak of years though.

bf goodrich a/t dont come with mileage warranties. mileage warranties are crap anyway. make a claim and they'll tell you you're out of alignment, out of balance, it'll be your fault.
