So true. I had some Bridgestone Potenzas on a Mitsubishi about 5 years ago that were nothing but trouble. 3 out of the set of 4 were replaced in less than a year due to blow-outs, tread separations and other issues. The guy at the tire shop told me it was my fault that the tires kept failing because I wasn't keeping good enough track of the tire pressure, and therefore had to pay out of pocket for the replacements. Thing is, I watched the tire pressure like a hawk cause the damn things kept falling apart on the freeway!
So finally I took the car to another shop after the third tire failed (going about 80 mph down the freeway) and asked the shop guy to check the tires out for anything unusual. About five minutes later he comes back and tells me that the first shop used the improper valve stems when they had mounted the tires, causing the tires to leak air and shred themselves apart on the freeway. The whole time I was bad-mouthing Bridgestone and it ended up having nothing to do with the quality of the tires and everything to do with the tire shop using the wrong stuff on install. Ever since then I've taken mileage warranty claims on new tire purchases with a grain of salt
