Gen 1 Standard Cab Install

I got my 693 from techronics.com for 178 I think, I'll look real quick and post ya a link.

Shipping was pretty fast, about a week and a half, but this was over the new year holiday.

well the above seems nice, but that is rather slow shipping it seems like to me, but maybe it's just me being impatient?

also, i looked more into the 693 on amazon, without the bluetooth, and looks like i can get it as cheap as 164.98... and they aren't a featured seller, but have 94% positive feedback in the last twelve months, and 559 ratings.

that is my best deal, and also one of the best customer approval ratings. its free shipping.

think that's better than paying 178.88 for a company with 96% positive for 21,426 ratings?

i mean i know statistically that means that the second, more expensive option, is going to tend to be more reliable, but saving 14 bucks is always great.

Oh nice. Ya I'd go for the free shipping man. Good deal.
PS for being over the holiday I really can't complain about how long it took. If you ordered now I'm sure you'd have it within a week.

ended up buying a pioneer deh-6000ub off of craigslist for $130

went and bought the wiring harness adapter thing i guess from best buy for 21 bucks today... gonna have a friend help me install/splice everything on wednesday.

already got the mounting bracket and mounting sleeve slipped on to the head unit.

ready to be able to have a dedicated subwoofer channel, ipod control, LPF and HPF, and just a non-sony xplod head unit lol.

wish me luck.

okay so a few questions about installing my HU....

i bought a wiring harness adapter that Best Buy said I needed. where do i cut off the old plug? right behind the twist cap things (sorry i don't know the "proper" term)? behind the big plugs? sorry, i realize this is a real audio newb question lol.

i just want to do it right... and should i go buy some butt connectors to use? or can i just use twist caps to splice the vehicle electrical to the new wiring wiring harness and then to the head unit harness

You don't cut off the oem plug. But kinda sounds like some one allready did or replaced the oem plug. The wire kit you bought should go to the oem plug. And have open wire to attach to tge open wire of the back of tge new hu

okay well if i am remembering what my wiring looks like correctly, i may just be able to undo all of my twist caps, and then just replace the harness and twist all of the caps back on and it may work! a little easier than butt connectors in my mind...

i'll try and work on it today, tired of having my friend flake on me who was supposed to help 2 different times this week and then the day of says "oh sorry man something came up"...

I always stick it in the butt, I dont screw around with the twist caps. Some will recommend soldering with a heat shrink finish but I dont like doing that in spots where I can !@#$ up my dash by accident.

those 'twist caps' are called wire nuts. you could use some male and female bullet connectors.
