Gen 1 Standard Cab Install

if you were closer, id give you my perfect bench seat out of my 84.

but if you did cut out the center of the 60/40, you could make a piece of mdf the followed the contour of the seat, and mount the amp to that.

meaning, standing the mdf on edge, cut it so its a little lower than the seat, and mount the amp to that.

that would look pretty cool actually. dont know if it would work though

thanks for the offer... i want bucket seats, or the appearance of bucket seats (cutting the center off), eventually cuz i'd like to put in maybe one or two 8's or a 10 in between them in a fiberglass enclosure eventually.

hah, isn't it funny how we want to do all this stuff we have no clue how to do?

small side question...

i'm looking to get a new headunit soon, and i desire a LPF feature in my headunit....

tried looking on google and crutchfield, and can't really find what i'm looking for...

any guidance?

any HU with a sub out will have LPF

okay so, a sub output is different from just a pair of RCA's correct? (sorry if it's a really idiotic question...)

And if the HU has a sub output, then that means that I can control the level of the sub also right? or turn it off?

correct (rca)

99%yes (level control)

sometimes (on/off)

yes, in kenwoods units, they have a setting for the lpf, you can set it at what freq. you want. it also has settings for the hpf too.

ok, cuz i have a friend, and he can control his sub just like lows, mids, and highs... (so like -10 up to +10)

so basically -10 would probably be almost completely off...

i think i defnitely want that, so if i'm driving with somebody who doesn't want a ton of bass, it won't be a big deal.

if my sub is rated at x for the lowest freq, i should set the LPF as a little higher than that? just in case? and also same for HPF.. can it get distorted if i assign a higher freq than the sub is rated to handle?

The -10to+10 is more gain then freq settings. And if you have an lpf on and off. It's prolly a set freq. Like some were between 75-100 MHz. Were has some have (like mine an BW) has a digital eq were I can set the cross over and slope just were I want it.for highs and lows. So my speakers pick up the mid right as my subs stop.

yeah, idk if it seemed like it, but i knew the LPF and the -10 to +10 were different, I do want both of those features on my headunit, and idk how to look for the -10 to +10 as a feature as I don't know what it's called?

is it a sub pre-amp out or something?

been looking around on crutchfield (gonna buy somewhere else for cheaper, but i feel like their searching options are elite)

http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_500CDA105/Alpine-CDA-105.html?tp=5684

would there be a big difference between ^that^ and this:

Maybe it would help if I told you what I'm looking for...

less than 200 preferably
ipod ready, using USB so it charges and i can control with the HU (front or rear, doesn't matter, but idk where i would run it to if it was rear, so maybe i prefer front)
i would like some adjustments so that i can trim the bass from my dash speakers, and trim the highs from my sub
DTA would be nice (so that i put the microphone in the cab and it does all the work or whatever)
i prefer to take my faceplate off, i don't do it now, but that's because it's a cheap walmart sony xplod HU
i don't care if it's flip open or motorized
i'd like to play mp3 cd's as well
i might eventually add speakers in my doors or upgrade my dash speakers and amp them (so do i need two sets of RCA's?)

not sure what else, but that's a little bit of what i prefer

wow, way cheaper!

is there a model that does not include the bluetooth? i don't have a large need for it, and also i read on a prius website (after searching google for the model) that there is a bluetooth free version for $100 less... i don't know how i would go about looking for it though.

**edit**
cancel that, that IS the model without the bluetooth. i kind of wish it had the bluetooth. i wouldn't use it much, but could see myself getting used to answering calls through it even though i never really call that much. i think i'll just bite the bullet and go with that... any guess on how long it would be that cheap on amazon? i'm not ready to buy it yet, financially.
