I see information about 1989+ doors, but are all 1st gen (1983-88) doors interchangeable?

My big question is: Could I put extended cab doors on a regular cab?

I have 87 bronco II doors with wing windows on my 88 std cab.

Like the others say...yes...

I will say the doors and hinges are identical fit wise/window wise...they differ greatly in the way the hardware works...it mounts the same right down to the door handles and the door panels...

The locking mechanism works differently...first gen is a pull mechanism from the door handle to the latch (inside handle)...second gen is a push...

You can actually swap the mechanisms from one door to the other...they mount the same...but the levers and even the wire parts connect differently...

I was planning on making a bulletin to demonstrate how they are different, but couldn't get the 92 door latch out of the door...someone used lock tight on it or something...
