gearhead's build thread

Ya, Ruff Stuff changed their site a couple week's ago and had a sale on afterwards.

i'm playing an order today or tomorrow.. so i'll for sure check it out.

update well i found out why my EB coils seem stiff, the duff progressive rate coils go from 210lbs to 370lbs so i orderd deaver EB coils from bronco graveyard and there 190lbs linear rate but there on back order and wont be shipped out until mid june:annoyed: and i went wheeling with my off road club and almost water locked the motor in this hole, i got to the deep part and the truck bogged out because of the tall 373 gears and the 38's, i have a set of 4.56's now i just need to put them in

those trails remind me of the ones that are pretty much in my backyard, powerlines and all.
looks like its holding its own offroad.

Looks good man. The Duff springs work great on Explorers but there a little heavier then a Ranger.

ya i love the terrain here and thanks for the compliments guys, im gonna build a pvc snorkel, anybody have any suggestions for the cap?

Got the the one I had on mine off ebay. Was like $40 bucks I think.

I would go deeper in gearing than 4.56....I would suggest 5.13 or 5.38

i was gonna but i got a good deal on the set for the d44 plus ill be running a doubler and i don't want the pinion to get to small in case i wanna swap in my backup drivetrain

that's what I Was gonna say.. Run the 4.56 cause you have them if you want more gear get a doubler and you can probally keep the 4.56s in. But if you had 5.13 you'd break pinion heads off 4 sure

456s with 38s? do you think thatll be low enough gearing? im running 513s with 38s on my dd and love them. i mean i cant crawl with them, but when i do a doubler itll be perfect. at 60mph in 5th im at 2600 or so, and getting between 16-19mpg.

thats bs. i beat the snot out of my 9inch and it keeps coming back for more(cept the bent stock shaft:D). but in my opinion, 513s dont make your pinion so small to the point where id be worrying about it. i havent had ANY problems with it on the street or on the trail with a full spool and very healthy 38.5 boggers.
