Was going down a hill, and hit the brakes lightly to slow down..and i lost control. Hit the back of a parked s10. Full coverage for me. If he doesn't claim it on his insurance, i won't claim it on mine so it won't go up..and parts are cheap, so i will be alright.

His car?

I went back and took pictures of his truck today. It has been hit before (the tails were taped up, and the cop noted that), so i don't think he will report it..and its a beater truck.

Other than that, my truck is still driveable..as soon as i get the fender off the tire. I am going to just beat the bumper in (or take it off..whichever will be easiest) so i can drive it, and buy a new headlight casing for 25$. Replace stuff on it slowly, and call it a day. I mainly want to be able to drive it for now.

Gotta love the north eh buddy! Sliding all over the place, Ive lost control many times. Feels like your hearts gonna beat outta ur chest.

I knew it was happening while it was happening, so it wasn't that bad. Just slid down..doing around 10 mph..watching everything happen.

Cheap my butt. Unless you are good with a ball hammer, you probably got around $500 worth of damage or more.

From the front pic, looks like your Ranger is some kind of one-eye pirate.

Yup. Been there done that.

As far as pulling out the bumper... a chain and a piece of equipment (I use a skid steer) will go a long way. I've pulled them out with a handy tree or a 4x4 in low range, but the equipment seems to work best for the nicest results. That and a BFH. (Pull it out, keep tension, and give the kinked parts a good couple whacks so it'll retain its shape).

Oh, and I wouldn't bet on the guy not turning it into his insurance. You hit him. He might have backed into a car or a tree or something, but now he's got a "free" way to fix it (it's not right, I know, but people play that scam all the time). Hopefully you luck out though and he's not one of those who tries to get over on people.

Front bumper - New Aftermarket (150)
Headlight - used (25)
Grille - New aftermarket (40)

And i did not price a hood..but its looking to be about a 350$ fix. Nothing major is damaged.

I just took it off, and will buy a new one.

The cop noted on the report that his tail lights were already damaged, and i got pictures of them with tape on them..so thats pretty good evidence that it was hit before. I will fix what i did, if the guy wants, but i won't fix his ****up. And if he does call it into insurance, it will probably total it

Well..the truck should run, but the battery is dead due to it being extremely cold here right now. And of course the hood won't lift up..any suggestions? The release under the hood isn't interfering, but i do believe the hood is frozen. The sides lift up, just not the middle.. :(

It runs!

Sorry about the truck man. You respect things more when you put it back together with your own 2 hands.

Does anyone know if a 2001-2005 front bumper will fit on a 2000? I found one for 35$, new, and i am hoping it will.

Judging by your truck, whatever he might have done to his truck damagewise you would have done too. If the tail light was already broken you would have broken it anyway.

2001 is a new front-end style. And I believe it was the first year that Ford used a composite bumper instead of a steel bumper. 1998-2000 will work for bumpers.

any 98+ bumper will work, aslong u get it with the brackets.
i got a 99 with a 03 bumper, so i know it works lol

shame on messing the truck, it looked really good. but good u can fix it on your own and nothing else got damaged, like airbags for example

Go back and finish the job, send that s10 to the junkyard.

The hood is likely jammed - there is a squarish loop of steel attached to the hood that hooks into the hood latch mounted on the core support. You probably jammed that back into the latch, which jams the latch. I've got them free before but it's a tricky thing sometimes.

Surprised your airbags didn't pop.

You'll need to either repair the inner fender or replace it, along with the core support. Both are probably mashed up pretty good from the looks of things.

To put an 01+ front bumper on will require the mounting brackets, not just the bumper. Your bumper brackets are damaged anyway and would require being straightened or replaced. A torch can be your friend.

You'll need a new grill and headlight assembly. You'll also need a new header panel (the fiberglass piece that your grill and headlights attach to). There is no repairing those once they get mashed like that. And it's one piece that goes all the way across. New ones list for over $100 plus shipping.

The outer fender may be repairable.

Yes, I've been here before.

Yes, I've been here before.

You have to go so fast for airbags to activate, I forget if it 25mph or 35mph.
