So I finally found a Dana / 9 inch combo and I'm going to start my build on here rather then the ranger forum due to more (custom) work gets done around here then over there.
Here's a run down of what I have and what I want to achieve

79 high pinion d44 and the 9 inch ( full width )
I want to have no less then 8 inch lift I'm using coils so correct me if I'm wrong here but I need 79 f150 6 inch coils

I'd like to do this using my stock trans cross member and I read you can use 4/6 inch radius drops from the ranger if you don't go over 8 inches.

As far as the trac bar for now I'm going to use or attempt to use the stock 79 trac bar and a universal mount .

Coil buckets will be the stock 79s or duffs witch ever I find cheapest this weekend

Steering . Does anyone have a easy way for this ? Parts mike sounds good but I don't want to spend the time / money reeming out holes I read that's what youl have to do .

I have never done anything this complicated an I know a hundred people a day ask questions about sas but I've done my share of reading there's just things un clear on so please bare with me and any advice giving will be much appreciated !!! Keep a watch I want to order or pick everything up on saterday

Yup. 3/4" rodends, 3/4" drill bit, 3/4" bolts, a couple tabs, and a 5/8" bolt for the pitman, and some 1" ID DOM tube will take care of steering.

Just build a new cross member that I ties the radius arm mounts together. Or extend your arms 12-14" so they mount behind the trans cross member. There is actually a nice set of D44 arms in parts for sale section.

150 coils may be too stiff for anything but a mud truck. Look at EB coils or Jeep XJ lift coils. Something around 180-200 ppi. Just look through some SAS builds. I half assed mine the first time with stock buckets, Stiff 230ppi coils, stock 44 arms and ended up with poor caster and no articulation.

I redid my SAS with 190ppi XJ coils, Johnny Joint ends on the radius arms with corrected caster, taller shock towers, and coil buckets that actually allowed the spring to sit right. And I couldn't be happier with the performance. Its 100% streetable and flexes well.

Thank for for you replies !

As far as longer arms I assumed that would work, what should I look for like a set of 79 extended arms ? Or is that a fab up deal?

Fab. Cut stock arms and add tubing, or look at Duffs SAS kit.

As for your coil/bucket question...
I have Ballistic's adjustable buckets, set for 1" lift over stock ones, and BC Broncos/ Deaver 6.5 coils

On 35"s now, will fit 38"s with mild trimming

i'm starting the same build on my 03'. got the dana/9 combo out of a 77.

ballistic fab has a steering kit that has everything as far as linkage, here's a link

and james duff has a track bar/ panhard bar kit thats reasonable too.

just wondering, what size tires are you planning on running?

Awesome stuff guys just awesome!

As far as the steering kit you just sent a link of , that's for a full size Dana like it comes the right length ready to bolt on? I'm going to be lifted either 8/9 inches or 11/12 inches have not decided

Currently I have 35s on my ranger Im going to see how they look if I can get away with them for a while I will but ultimately I want 37s

Maby even 38s but I know people will tell me not to /: if I had found Dana 60 and a stearling for 500 bucks I would be getting 40s haha

if your driving allot on the road go with the ruffstuff gm setup. and their trac bar stuff is great too.

if you can get a flat top hi-steer setup it would be ideal with your 8 in minimum lift goals.

the huge matching angle setups work ok but the lower the angle of the trac-bar/draglink setup the better. it minimizes axle trac offset. spring rate has allot of bearing on how noticable this will be....in snowy/icy conditions it can be a problem

i use the gm tre type of setups and prefer them for real world use as i am in the salt belt.

you have to get your shit setup and then measure it all out after you cycle everything.

what Bobby just said^^^^^^

it is a custom swap, there will be nothing "Bolt-on" steering linkage wise...you will have to make a custom one period....

The kit has everything you need but you have to cut the tubing to the lengths you need.

And if you don't use high steer with a tall lift, like mine... Other than the street drivability...
The steering and track bar are at quite an angle, which makes centering the axle a touchy process requiring double ended adjustment. Then to align all 3 wheels together takes quite a bit of adjustment too. Then later on you have to fight the coils settling...

Custom track bar and steering are required, especially if you cut out the cost of high steer components. I could go on and on about it, so just buy the kit.
