gas tank capacity

that depends...if you have a long box or a short box or dual tanks...give me a min and i can look them up.

Edit: looks like they all used a 17 Gal sidemount tank. i dont recall what the dual tanks second tank was maybe 14 Gal. that was put under in place of the spare tire and the tire was relocated to be mounted to the side of the bed rail.

std cab shortbed..107" wheelbase single tank. For some reason my tank only holds 6 gallons..

is the tank dented or smashed in? could be a filler neck issue as well. how do you fill up your tank?

its the original tank, had it refurbished. The fuel gage reads full to the max at 6 gallons. Also gas spills out the top and the gas pump shuts off from the pressure.

hmm thats a thinker. a messed up filler neck will restrict the flow enough that the shut off on the nozzel will think that the tanks full but in reality all it did was fill up the filler neck faster then it could let drop into the tank.

soo you could have an issue there but you are getting some into your tank to tell the sending unit to trip. im not sure why it reads full though that could be another issue.

Short Bed Std cab 15.2gal
Long bed Std Cab 17.0gal
Supercab 14.5gal

IF equipped with "dual tanks" the behind the axle Aux is 13.0gallons

vent line is plugged. The air can't get out, and 6 gallons compresses it to the point where just the weight of the fuel can't compress it anymore, so it shuts off and spills out.

right i forgot bout the vent:icon_thumby:

vent line is not plugged, although the filler neck has 2 kinks in it. When i fill the tank with 6 gallons the tank drips for a couple of minutes when the truck is shut off..does not leak any gas with 4 gallons or less..:annoyed:

hmm time for a new tank perhaps? LMC truck has them for round $99

It's funny this popped up. First time I filled mine up from E, when I first bought it, I watched it just roll and roll and roll on. 18 gallons (20 gallon tank) I was heart broken. LOL
