Gas Mileage

i like the sound of an aftermarket tubular w/ cone air filter. seems like the tubing would also be less restrictive. i do agree that the stock system is a cold air style. i ran one cobbled together from old parts on the original 2.5 4 popper, did the math of mpg before and after it was .8 mpg better, yes there is a decimal there. so .8 could be other driving conditions: weight, stop-go, running ac or not. but it sounded better!

the 93 4x4 supercab I used to have was a 4.0 with 235/75/15’s and 3.73 gears. 5 speed manual. It would get 17/18 quite constantly in the summer, best ever on a trip was 19. ( we were in west va though, so between all the hills and a 70 mph speed limit, im not surprised) The narrower your tire the better, mine had stock intake & exhaust. I ran a bed cap and total weight was 4,300 pounds. Used cruise control most of the time (it quit working the last 2 years I had it) kept ground speed below 60 most of the time. Now towing- my box trailer is a 6x10 haulmark with the extra height, even with a V-nose front its like pulling a parachute. Of course I was limited to 4rth gear. I got 11-13 towing. The trailer only weighs 1,100 empty. usually the load in it wasnt over 500#.

I had a similar thought, but he has yet to mention his lightning and I don't think he is physically capable of not saying he owns a lightning at least 3 times per post. So they are definitely different people...

Y would u have 2 accounts?

Whoa this aint the tailgate dawg

That make sense Dirtman, i do get your point, thanks
Mines an old street smart design which has a carbon fiber heat shield around it, it pulls air from the bottom of that.
With raising my compression to 10:1, the 422 cam, BBK throttle body, shorty headers, head ported & polished with exhaust ports open up, upper & lower intakes ported, what would you recommend for a programmer?

With all that done your best off finding a local dyno tuning place. Programmers with OTS tunes are good for very generic crap, once you go to the extent you did though.. youd be a fool to NOT have it tuned on a dyno.. in my opinion.
