gas milage

i guess i could replace mu other two o2 sensors see if that makes it up

Don't replace them unless you know they are bad... Filters, fluids, and PCV valve are about the only things you should change without testing... Why waste money on something if you don't need it?

well yeah i would check them first but like i said ive done all my maintience work already

If you're ok with that, then it's fine... I could see 14 mpg being normal for someone driving stop and go and romping on it all the time, but I easily am getting 18 mpg driving from school and back, and short trips around town...

ok i just recently changed the plugs and wires i sea-foamed it and that brought me from 13 to 14 what else should i do?

Fuel and air filter, pcv valve... Check fuel and tire pressure. Verify that you're not getting any codes KOEO and KOER, and check for anything in stored memory. Grab a meter and test your O2 sensors.

air and fuel filters are new as well how do i check fuel pressure and how do i get codes and what kind of meter for the o2 sensors how do i check them

many rangers earlier engines run poorly on todays fuel... it has ethonol in it as a way to displace the amount of petrol in gasoline... so when many of us see a decline in our MPG/MPT it's cause of that reason... and during winter or cold regions they add more things to keep it from freezing up on you so you get even worse economy.

the best thing to do is upgrade your engine... changing gear ratios is not a sure thing, you can screw everything up and then you're WOT (wide open throttle) the whole time using more fuel... the less your engine has to work under a load the less fuel it uses... but at higher speed the higher RPMs... so it's a trade off, and you won't see much MPG change from that... just performance changes.

so could a fuel filter cause a decrease in gas milage

Bone stock 2001

I have been tracking my mileage from 6 June 2008 until my last fill on 9 April 2009. I estimate about 50/50 city highway. My low was 13 and my high was 21. Over this entire period my average was 16.95, say 17. And it is a 4X4 auto. I consider this pretty good considering winter and our oxygenated (alcohol) gas.

I have purchased an under drive pulley and hope to improve it a bit.

That's about what my mileage is now.

is winter gas a natonal thing beacuse here in az there is no such thing as winter or rust

I believe 10% ethanol is pretty standard nation wide now. Not sure if you get a winter blend fuel thoguh.

you may be able to find a few places that still have 100% gas. there is one place right around my house that has both 100% gas and 10% ethanol you can choose from.
