gas milage

i run her really ****in close to dry then i put 20gal in reset the miles and then drive till empty so thats gal. used:dunno: ran out today final number is 11.7 mpg

You can get more accurate - Fill the tank until it stops. Reset Trip Meter. Drive until you get on E. Fill up again until it stops. Note the amount of gallons you lost on the pump and divide that by the miles shown on the trip meter.

i think alot of these guys are bs you i get 220 miles to a tank as well

Im not joshin', i pick off 19-20's in the summer, 15+ winter. but i still beleive your claim too. my friend had a 1994 4.0L with an auto and 3.73's and he usually picked off 13-15ish. :icon_cheers:

summer am getting 18.5-20 mpg's in my stock 2002 4x4 4.0L winter using 4hi 14.5-15.5

im still11.7mpg all in town. I still think this is low, i mean its a brand new truck

I was wondering if my 4.0 was the only one getting poor mileage. Its a bone stock 07, auto, 2WD, w/3:55. I try driving it as if I had a rotten egg under my foot, but 15.0 is all I get. I had believed 18/19 with combinded driving would be normal. HA!

Yep, there's definitely a problem. As I mentioned above, I regularly cross above 20mpg with my Exploder. With the Ranger, I got 24mpg on the most recent tank doing city driving.

i have the 4.0 and i get around 15 iff that idk how people are getting 20

Their trucks aren't broken? If yours is so bad, invest some time into figuring out the problem rather than being confused by those claiming to get numbers consistent with what the trucks were rated at from the factory.

Your '96 was EPA rated at 16-18mpg city, 21-23mpg highway depending on automatic/man, 2wd/4wd. The revised estimates still put you at 15-16 city, 20-21mpg highway.

It's easy... After I finished my tune-up last week, I got 18 mpg on my last tank of gasoline... There is obviously something wrong with your truck...

I'm saying obviously something isn't working properly on your 4.0 if you are only getting 15 mpg... I am easily getting 18 mpg in the city, and I don't drive like grandma either... I was consistently getting 15-16 mpg before I did my tune-up, now I am getting 18 mpg...

BTW - Mine's a '91...

Agreed. The truck may run smoothly, but it's CLEARLY not running optimally. Assuming no codes and the traditional tune up items already taken care of, I'd go as far as probing the O2 sensor output with a volt meter to verify that it's switching appropriately.

well there is obviously something wrong with my truck but i already knew that. haha. 16 or 17 on the highway. im planning on a tune up shortly though.

i guess i could replace the other two o2 sensors see if that makes it up
