garage heater advice

dont know how easy it is to get to your gas line...or even if you have natural gas available....

but one old school trick they were doing before i knew what the numbers meant on a wrench were gas clothes dryers. they tend to heat "wet" so not good for paint setups, and can be easily modded to burn hotter, but that can also be dangerous if you mod them incorrectly(porting). pretty easy to disassemble and make a custom box by cutting and modding the original housing.

i have a wood stove, kerosens and nat-gas, but my garage is wet in the winter and sucks when i heat it..

I don't know how big they come, but waste oil heaters are pretty cheap to operate... almost free.

Dunno how this winter would be, but last year with a old house furnace in the garage it kept up, but would burn thru that propane pig in a hurry... so it didn't get run much.

We have a waste oil burner at the shop, once word gets out you have one fuel will no longer be a problem. Only real problem is if they don't come much smaller than ours your 10x10 shop will be like a huge pizza oven. Not for sure how it works, but it also makes the all time best baked potatos too (just wrapped in tin foil and set on top)

you can usually get a dryer for free..the belt or drive couplers go out and they get tossed alot....not to bad cost wise to use either.

Harbor freight has wood burning stoves for cheap, if you got woods your good to go!

principally no kerosene, propane or electric fair

This is what I have. No fumes, plenty of heat. Plus most folks aren't using the grill in the winter time. Mine will run all day and then some on a full tank of propane.

Of all the expenses that we are facing everyday, we should think for the alternative ways to lessen the cost.
The power bill is a significant concern for many people, especially in places that get extremely cold. One way to save some money, in the long run, is to switch to natural gas for heating. Article resource: Switching to natural gas heating can save money

Mine a torpedo heater & can use kerosene or diesel, so I run red diesel that not legal for road use, I leave a window cracked, and no fumes. Its got a thermostat, so it shuts itself off & comes back on when it cools. My garage is 18x28 and after some experimentin, use of a wall thermometer located at opposite end of garage, it kicks off at 70*.

You can figure out how much the electric heater costs there usually 1500 watts. My electric is 16 cents a kilowatt hour so I figure it's about a quarter an hour to run an electric heater at my house. The hours add up fast and it gets big.
