Hi to everyone on TRS,
I just wanted to write a quick FYI/Review of the Rough Country 4" Suspension Lift Kit I installed on my 92 Ranger STX 4.0L 4X4. I Have read some negative things posted by others across the internet about this lift. I just wanted to address these with some first hand experience. The first thing that often comes up is that the design of the passenger side axle pivot point drop bracket being of a plate design causes interference issues on the dana 35 front axle and could lead to possible diffy damage if used hard off-road. Well, as the bracket simply drops the factory mount down it keeps clearances the same as stock I cycled the suspension fully without the coils even installed and there was no clearance problems. The other issue I have seen although not as often is that some have mentioned problems with brackets not fitting properly. I had no such problems with my kit all brackets were shaped correctly and bolt holes lined up exactly. The hardest part of the whole job was removing the factory pitman arm from the steering box. All in all this lift seems to be a great value. I just wanted to write this so others on a budget wouldn't be scared into a more expensive kit just because of someone's bad experience.

Some get lucky.... Also the kit design changed recently.

I have the 2wd kit and everything lined up perfectly, and I agree that the pitman arm was the hardest thing to get off! Overall I recommend the kit for those on a budget.

Yah I'm not saying it's the latest and greatest in suspension technology, but for the cost I think it's a really good pick and with the addition of longer radius arms I think my truck will be pretty damn good offroad.

I bought this kit as my first lift over all it was an easy install, good price, I had no problems except the hole in my diff due to the bracket

Well the way you checked the clearance is inacurate in a sense due to the fact that the whole weight of the vechicle is not being supported by the suspension I/E it would take a hell of a cheater bar to replicate the force on the suspension versus using your body or a jack

yes the brackets have changed and i have no problems with the dropplate! The kit is worth it!

by cycling the driver side beam up, I bet you also moved it forward not knowing it. The plates DO hit a Dana 35 and the Dana 28 axles; the 35 more often.

I hit my Dana 28 on the drop plate when I had that style lift and the Dana 28 under my truck.

All in all, the drop plates are not as strong as a complete bracket.
