Got lucky at the pick & pull yesterday and found an '02 FX4 twin stick. I grabbed the shifters out of it. Anyone know if the manual t-case linkage for the chrome shifter works on the older, more common variation of the 1354m's? I would like to use the shifters in my '91 :D

Kind of funny, aside from having a drivers door it looks to be in the same condition as the truck I pulled my levers out of.

If you grabbed the whole t-case lever it will be easier, if not and you can't get it just trim yours, heat it, smash it flat and drill holes in it. (I am going to have to take the smash and drill route for my NP208 lever)

If you have a '91 trans the trans shifter won't be a drop in, you are going to have mod the shifter or the shifter stub. The nonHD M5 has the slot for the pinch bolt opposite of the R2 I have in the picture.

There are places that can make custom knobs to work with the somewhat goofy metric threads, the ones I found are about $40/knob and they are just round ones. If you can find them for sale usually the FX4 ones are outrageous.

Yeah I knew the shifter stub was different so I grabbed it too. I just didn't realize it was also longer haha. I wonder if I can just swap covers/shift rails from an HD unit over to my older m5od and have it all bolt together.

I'm going back to the yard to see if I can work out a deal for the whole truck since other then the knobs & grills it was complete. Would not be the first time I've bought a car from them haha.

Too bad the Alcoas ran away.

The one I scavenged from took a HARD hit to the nose, she was pretty much toast. Rear axle, drivers seat and door were gone.

Looks like a fun yard, I used to go to one like that when I was in college.

Yeah with me :yahoo:

I think this truck ended up here just cause of age. Unless there was a major mechanical failure all I see wrong with it was a dirty interior & rotted out body panels (frame still looked nice). Had a 160k miles or so on it I think.

You stink.

Apparently they are reaching that point though, my last two trips to the JY I have found a different LVII. I doubt the SOHC 4.0's are helping the older ones either. Maybe someday I will bump into a set of Alcoas...

Anyway the HD shifter is roughly the same length as the non HD but for some reason it doesn't work. I have never had either and probably never will but I did bump into that bit of info when I was looking into getting a Ranger shifter to work on my F-150 M5ODR2. I was saying earlier that the non HD stub had the notch opposite of what my R2 does.

Down at step 6:

My fix is to have a second notch cut across the back of my R2 stub.

Went back to the yard and snagged the rest of the FX4 1354m linkage. I'll find out tomorrow if it bolts up to my older 1354m combo.

Also nabbed a '97 XJ 4.10 hp D30 non-cad axle with the bigger 760x u-joints. First 4 cyl cherokee I've ever came across out of all my junkyard trips so I had to grab it lol.
