Ok to start off let me say that this is all for FUTURE reference and engine mods and maybe even a V8 swap are in the FUTURE along with regearing and what not. I just wanna get some research done bc i am a HUGE NEWB to this and maybe by the time i graduate from college and get another truck i can fullfill this dream of mine. First ill fill you in on what im lookin for, what i use my truck for, and how my truck currently sits. I wanna lift my truck higher than what i can achieve with the common torsion, body, bolt on suspension method and id like to run bigger than 35s someday. Keep in mind my truck is mostly a DD but is quite often mudded and beaten up pretty good during hunting season and i would like to mud more often. Right now my truck rides 12.50x33s with a torsion bar crank and has a 3.0 with an auto (engine mods or swap in future) Im wanting to SAS it eventually and i really dont know where to start, ive looked around on here just cant really make no sense of some things. I guess im just asking is what would you do....right down to axles, rearend, gearing, springs/leafs, tires...etc...or any recommendations for research. i know this is a LONG post but im just full of piss and vinegar right now and i wanna get my shit straight so sooner or later i can get busy, thanks! this is how truck sits now...

First of all, there are ALOT of solid axle swaps here. The will be mostly 1-3 gen rangers. There a quite a few over on Ranger-Forums.com, but the site is down right now.

I found this by typing in "Solid Axel Swap", might want to try that.

There ya go.
Also if you are asking these questions already, you haven't read enough. This is a major project, that involves alot of hard work, and can be very expensive.

Also look here for alot of technical questions, just don't post a thread like this cause you will end up learning a few new insults.

i have the same truck you do and i whating to do the same thing. i just what to stay at 35s. if i was you i would go with d44 front leaf spings are the easyest way. A ford 9in or d60 rear. for gearing i would use 4.56 gears.for tires i hear that bfg ATs have good wear. show me the progr of the build plz:icon_welder::drool::headbang::icon_hornsup::icon_surprised:

Please don't spend all the time and money to do a sold axle swap and then go with all terriains. Thats like buying a 72" 3D LED HDTV and not buying the appropriate furniture to set it on or hang it from the wall.

Leafs aren't necessarily the easiest either, it depends on what you have access too.

Personally I'd do a coil sprung, narrowed HP D44 with a explorer 31 spline 8.8 out back on chevy full size leafs...

Same idea here

To the op...does your truck have a body lift?...i know my 98 has a 3 inch bl and 33s...but my tbars aren't cranked as far as i know.

Eventually i want to build a similar truck....d44,swap my 8.8 out for the exploder 8.8.....or maybe a 9 inch.Throw some 36's on,lock it up,winch,skids and go.

That way i can still get it inspected and have a very capable rig.:icon_welder:
