Yea I hope you did, engineers are a hot commodity including one that can deal with union.. trust me I know.. I get along better with them than my own engineering kind.. haha.

Im in design engineering right now... its boring AF in a nuclear plant.. just a heads up

I agree with this completely. Most fellow engineers I get to work with have a very difficult time accessing the restricted area of the brain known as the "FUN" part..... :thefinger:

HAHA. I am engineer. I like to stay in my little box and work alone. Not used to this.

But yes, I was looking at a $7k raise. Now I am looking at 12k plus another week of vacation...

:shok: That's impressive... How did it affect your commute? You should've tried for a company car and a gas card :icon_thumby:

HAHA, yeah, not gonna lie, I do get along with the union guys better than the other engineers. My redneck/car side of me helps in that department. I just struggle with their work ethic. I am currently in the steel industry. Due dates are CRITICAL.

I told them I was a hands on guy and wont be able to work on a PC, 8+ hrs a day, over and over. I do like computers, but not that much. With the new job, I will be traveling around the lower 48, 3-5 days a month. The younger engineers say it works out well. Its a break that comes in at just the right time. We shall see.

:icon_thumby:

Agreed. I hope the traveling works out well, I was told something like that and spent close to 3 months away from home last year... but that's just the nature of the work. We have to do what we have to do to bring home the bacon :icon_cheers:

Yep, we are talking about some money here. I wasn't ready for all this. But it is good. Very very good. Hard work is starting to pay off.

Yea I want hands on, but I cant complain with the job I have its boring but it pays the bills and I just got a new car and house.. Cant complain there. 12k bump.... didnt you just graduate like 2 years ago? damn you.. Im not near 100k yet but hopefully within the next 5 I will be

Hands on is fun. The only part that sucks is how we work 20hrs a day, every day. So on Mondays, I have 5 shifts of problems to work out. Basically, work doesn't stop when you go home. This new job will be right were I left it every morning :D. When I am on the road, it will be mostly hands on.

New car and house is always good!

I graduated in Aug2009. A tad more than 2 yrs ago lol. I am almost 3/4s of the way to 100 lol. Not bad for 27yrs old. Finally starting to make what I should. Maybe the econ is starting to come back even though my dad thinks it will crash again soon.

Time will tell. 3 months wont fly with me. I am ok with 3-4 days at a time. Travel is where the money seems to be.

LOL. No company cars. I will miss my iphone though. Back to the flipper...

My commute is going from 47 miles to 30 miles one way. A significant decrease. Time wise, it will be cut in half. I am looking forward to that.
If my house does sell (not trying as hard now), the house I move into for a while is 7 miles lol

Congrats on the cash :icon_thumby: I do make a lot more when I travel. Travel time, longer work days, no fuel cost, no food cost, its all very nice. But.... I will take going to my little family every night over all of that. There is a sensation there that cold beers at the hotel bar and talking with guys in the same boat as you just doesn't fill. Not to mention a cold lonely king size bed lol. It definately makes you appreciate the time you do get to spend at home more :icon_thumby:

That is a big savings in travel cost and time. Why are you trying to sell your house? I thought you loved your 6 acres and open space? Plus a huge garage!

Well, when we bought it, the wife worked 8 miles from home. Now she drives 32 miles one way and I drive 47 in the same direction. Then we had a kid. So we were looking to sell to get something closer to home (free babysitters) and work.
She is also job hunting. So we may still move depending on where she finds a job. I don't want her driving a lot.

I would love to actually build a new garage the way I want. My current one is nice, but its not setup for what I do. However, I am not complaining!

Im not too far behind you on pay. Im in the process of changing all my vehicles over to the new state... what a PIA.

Edit: I think the ranger will be a trailer queen.

Trailer queen FTW! lol

So, first day on the new job. I cant get on Gmail or FB. But TRS works! We are having IT problems, so I have been just shadowing the guys that are here since I cant get into any of the systems. I did get a sweet lab top and will have my credit card tomorrow. My new boss is heading to AZ in the morning, so that should be interesting.

Almost picked up the new rig yesterday... again... The current owner is not home often so its been a battle getting over there. I did line up a trailer I can borrow at any given time now that harvest season is over. However, it is a deckover goose, so I pulled my cap off again... (I can get it off, by myself in 8 minutes now :) )

Current plan is to get the trailer Friday night and grab this POS on Saturday morning. Thats if I can round up a few guys. I want to look over this Jhevy and see what I got before it gets too cold.

Good get it ready to come ride here this spring!!! I'm going out again this Sunday hopefully it comes back in one piece again.

Change of plans again. Now I am taking CCW classes this weekend. So no Jeep again. Maybe its a sign?

Also, first job at work (since training classes are not available) is to clean out the warehouse. I found a band saw buried in the corner. They said scrap it. I called my buddy that lived near buy. He happened to drive his F350 to work instead of his Ranger today. So I went and grabbed his '00 and 5x8 and towed her home. SCORE.

Glad u didmt get the jaheep. Sport trac!

haha. My new boss has a beat one. I told him I would be interested if he decided to retire it. His done will be 16 soon. So I think he is getting it.

Amazing what good stuff just gets thrown away lol. Put it on craigslist for $1000 lmao

I picked up an old wooden trailer a few weeks ago for Plum actually. It wont work for him so I decided to strip it down. I want to make a medium duty 6x12 deckover. I dont want it to weigh more than 600# and I want to make it out of this 300' of 4" channel I have laying around lol. It will be towed by the JKU.

This is what I have so far. Sprung weight is ~460# with 3/4" treated plywood. Might use 2x6s though...

You might be a redneck if your trailer hauls your trailer... :icon_rofl:

What program do you make those models in? Solidworks?

A redneck trailer on a redneck trailer lol.

Yes, that is solidworks, 2012
