Full Width SAS on '90 Danger the 4th

Another good one bites the dust :/ blws

Wanna see you keep this thing around. Well worth more than 4k in memories.

Hope whatever it is that prompted the sale gets better brother.

You are right on that. LOTS of memories. Those are priceless. I have met a lot of cool people because of that truck. It has taught me that the off-roading world is much cooler and fun than the diesel performance world. Lots of tools in the diesel world lol.

Its all good. I am looking to sell for good reasons. Not selling because I have to. My wife works hard and deserves this. This would improve our way of living. I would be able to build another rig soon as my wife knows how important this hobby/sport are to me.

We could borrow money from our parents, but I really hate doing that. I dont like owing people money.

Really looking to sell this tho. Might start parting it out soon.

i parted out my 67 cj. i don't think i would do it again. it was sad. it was in our family since it rolled off the lot, and it was kind of a hassle. shipping stuff all over the country.

Pulled the bad booster out. Something rattles around in there lol. I got another one but the studs are a different size. So I have to buy new nuts after work.

Also pulled my track bar off. One of the hiems was shot. It ended up destroying the threads in the welded bung too. So I cut that off and welded in a new bung and hiem. It is nice and tight again. Hopefully the booster fixes the stopping issue. The wife wont be home tonight so I will certainly be doing some backyard wheelin.

Also sold the trailer last night. No looking back now!

Wow. Yes, that would make it a lot harder with it being in the family since new. I dont think Rangers are that cool yet.

Shipping... didnt think about that. Hell, my town is so small they only deliver mail on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Got pulled over this morning. Window tint on my car. Ha, I thought it was for doing 80.

Its not that dark.... :D

I ran to the local Pull-a-Part on lunch yesterday. Scored a like new booster off of a 91 4cyl truck. Got that installed. The brakes work better than ever. I think my booster has been going down hill for the last 3 yrs. The truck has never been easier to stop than it is now.

Installed

Well, went wheelin with PlumCrazy yesterday. What was I thinking! I cant sell this thing.

Had a great time even though we both got a bit of damage trying to follow a B2... on 31" boggers...

Been doing some thinking today. Decided to keep my truck and keep wheelin it for the rest of this year. Then pull my axles and springs off and put them under some kind of RBV 4 seater.

Two things I dont care for about my truck.
#1, its not road worthy. It just doesnt have the power to keep those 36s rolling. That is fixable, but its not worth it at this point lol.
#2, it is not slow. I realize this after watching guys with doublers or Rubicon guys (4:1 low range). I really use that clutch when crawling.

So the next rig will be able to crawl better and have highway abilities.

Right now I am leaning toward a 5.0 and my axles with chromes up front. I would like to step up to 37s too. I have seen many modded D44s handle 37s with a stock V8. I would trade my axles for a set of 8 lugs (4.10 or lower) though. That would still have a better crawl than what I have now.

Made an excel sheet today comparing different setups. My current crawl is 47:1. It sucks lol. I would like to be in the 70-80 range next time. I am leaning towards a ZF5/BW1356 out of a Ford gaser in an Explorer... It would have a good crawl ratio and be able to roll at 70 mph with out screaming. Plus, those are easy to find out here.
Or I would do a 4.0L with a doubler. I have seen Plums truck on and off the road. That truck pulls 35s on the highway with ease.
It basically would come down to what I could get a deal on. I for sure want a 4 seater though.

I added two more columns. Wheel speed in first gear at a given rpm. I am 2 times faster than Plum and he has 4.10s.

You are definately an engineer :icon_thumby: I make spread sheets for everything :icon_rofl:

I think the ZF-5 is the way to go, but you could mate it with a NP205 (I am pretty sure) and put the 3:1 gears in it or do a 203/205 doubler. Or go with an Atlas 2 speed or 4 speed. Although they are pricey, it would be perfect! Especially the 4 speed with the 10:1 in it :icon_rofl: Put that in your spread sheet...

As for the vehicle, I vote for for an Aerostar :D Or keep a ranger and fit a bronco seat in the bed and fully cage it. Maybe make a canvas cover for the bed that is removable.

I am excited to see where you go with this. I hope I can wheel mine as much as you guys do. I'd love to have an excuse to keep changing it.

An engineer I am lol.

An atlas or similar would be awesome! But I am cheap and I prefer OEM stuff that I can get from a junk yard.

A 205 with a 3:1 ratio would be pretty cool though. Those cases are heavy, but they are strong. To be honest, I didnt even know about those aftermarket gears.

A friend runs a 203/205 in his 4linked 91 Chevy. Huge unit. I still dont know how he got it installed by himself.

Aerostar... Have you been talking to Plumcrazy? He wants me to do the same.

I am pretty pumped too. Hopefully everything works out so I can do this next rig. I am looking forward to building again. Looking forward to a road worthy rig that I can take my family in. I will miss having a beat up truck tho to use around the property. Also looking forward to some more power too.

Another friends rig. He is running 37s.

I new you were, I think we discussed that a while back. Lol

LoMax makes the aftermarket gears, but I think they are expensive too lol. I know that 1badexplorer has never broken a 205, and he breaks everything. It must be a solid case.

I know what you mean. Putting me, my girlfriend, and the dog in the Ranger is pushing it.

Great minds think a like on the aerostar....

That is a sweet ass explorer. I like the coilovers...
