Hey there, new to the thread. I’m currently working on fully swapping a 1994 sn95 into a 1996 ranger. I’ve been curious if there’s anyone here that has done this and if so if they would like to share advice or thoughts? 👊👌

Manual or slushbox?

There is a trick to making the clutch cable work if it is a manual. Ranger's used a hydraulic clutch.

Leave the axle but you can swap the rear mustang brakes onto your Ranger axle.

T-5 yes, axle is a the smaller 7.5?🤷‍♂️ not sure if it would hold up whatcha think about putting coilovers on the rear?

Mustang axle is much wider and is basically the same strength. If you want the same axle as the mustang a 4.0 Ranger is also a 28 spline 8.8 and bolts in.

9" or 31 spline 8.8 out of an explorer if you are worried about carnage.

@PetroleumJunkie412 is working on putting coilovers on his.

6 bangers of that gen used a 7.5, v8 a used an 8.8. ( i think the earlier v8s used the 7.5 too, but can’t be sure. )

If would stick with the ranger 7.5 or 8.8 to avoid suspension work.

Coilover options are out there. So far insanely impressed with Rick's Rangerz parts.

Rick's mounts come assembled and ready to go. The set on the left is his competition.

He has a bolt in ready 3 link rear axle setup. Would already own it if he had a watts link to go with it.

He is working on a parallel 4 bar kit with watts that is supposed to debut this fall. Eagerly awaiting.

curt has a custom bag setup too.

The 7.5 handles a v8 fine?? I guess I’ve heard that they won’t stand a clutch dump 🤔 but if that’s the case could see how much life I could get out of it 😁

they are good with a 2wd and no loading. case deflection gets them with short gears and big tires. drag racing a spool lets em live with bigger power pretty well.

Any pics of progress?

Who now??
highpower cleveland ...lt heads with 10r140 for his sport trac build.....ranger is a ttb 4x4 with afr 302 6r80 crown vic giant rotors front and air sprung control arm rear. it leaves good with no leafs.

Anyone ever modify the heater box? Tolerances for the mustang heater box against the ranger firewall pushes the dash away… curious if y’all ever messed with anything like this. I’m thinking my options are to (a) cut the firewall and then pan it back in with rivets and silicone, (b) heat gun the box and try molding it, or (c) cut it and try plastic welding new plastic pieces on from flat stock plastic. What are your guys thoughts?

I would probably start with trying to heat it up and push it in enough to fit. If that failed I would try cutting it up and plastic welding it back together.
