Fuel pump problem

So I have a 83 ranger that has a 4.0 swap. I'm having cold start problems. When the truck has sat for more then two hours it won't start unless I let the fuel pump prime tell it kicks off. Once it's stops priming the engine will start right up and run great. I've change the fuel filter and installed a inline check valve after the frame pump.

If it is not puddling up by the injectors then it is leaking down through the fuel pump which means you are about to loose a fuel pump. In my experiance with these RBV's it is going to be your fuel pump. I hate to say it but this is one part if you skimp and get the cheap store brand airtech pump you will be replacing it again within 2 years max. Spend the extra cash now on a bosch pump. Napa has it for like $60 and yours isn't in the tank so easy to replace. Of coarse you might also be having problems with that pump not being able to keep up with the 4.0 are you using the factory pump? I have not done one of these swaps so you might check the tech section to see what fuel system is being used in that swap if you havent already.

You have diagnosed the problem, you are losing pressure in the fuel system.
Check all connections first, feel them and smell fingers for gas smell.
Fuel pump in tank maybe the issue if you can't find a leak.

I assume it's fuel injected since a carb should have fuel reserve, if it is a carb then bowl is leaking.

The in tank pump is working. I don't smell or see any fuel leaks. I thinking its the frame pump.
