Fuel problem EFI acts like Carb

Got it to stumble and die today after work. After it died, it wouldn't start. I ran inside to grab the better half to test spark, but she wasn't as excited as I, let's say.... Got her in it, she hit the key while I had coil wire and screwdriver, perfect spark.... Hooked wire back up, hit key and it started right up.....

I am not one to throw parts at rigs usually but 80's electrical can drive a man to spend money.... Verdict? Throw coil at it and pray? Guy about 75 miles away has a running 2.9 with under 100K for $100.... Becoming quite tempting...

Replaced coil with a buddies he had replaced that was working fine. Ended up he needed a distributor. Replaced fuel filter which didn't seem to be bad at all. What say you guys about a TPS? Could this be a contender? I'm getting more and more stumped....
