Removing the top end to get to the head gaskets and ran into a problem. The fuel lines to the pressure regulator need be removed. I removed the retainer clips but apparently they are just there for safety. I have never did this process before. Is there a special tool I need. I searched for threads but no luck. Dirty

Lisle part number 37000. Available at pretty much any chain parts store.

You will want the whole kit because the supply and return lines are different sizes.

Thanks, all I could find on the web was a scissor type. Amazon, Lisle 37000 Air Conditioning/Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set. Set includes six sizes: 5/16 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, 3/4 inch and 7/8 inch. Can I assume that they snap over the line then apply force inward while pulling on the line. Dirty

Pretty much. Those are called "garter lock couplers". The male end of the fitting has a garter spring on it, the female end (called a barrel) is fluted at the end. When you lock them together the spring rolls over the flute and locks down so it (allegedly) can't come back out, then you put those other safety clips on just to be sure.

The tool goes into a gap on the male side of the fitting and gets under the spring and holds it open enough to let everything come apart.

For a one time use you can use some tin snips and a pop or beer can, used a plastic oil bottle once, although harder to keep wrapped around the line

Cut out a section and then trim it so it wraps around fuel line with no overlap, and just a small gap, then slide it in to release the springs grip, use a pair of pliers or open end wrench to push it in from the other end

The AC/fuel line release tool set is good to have, but in a pinch..............ya gotta go DIY sometimes

A friend at work had a set, worked like a charm.Ordered a set for my self. Took the A/C lines out too, just for the room. Hasn't been charged for a long time. Down to the heads now. Got to search the threads. Thanks Dirty

Removed the plenum and lower intake and found thick carbon build up and oil sludge. Fuel injectors restricted with rust deposits from the fuel rail. I think i need a parts washer. Dirty
