I have ran into a problem that the previous owner of my truck failed to mention. He torched some wires on the harness section that goes to the fuel inectors o2 sensor and possibly the tranny. I got a harness from the junk yard for my truck off a 97 Ranger 4.0l the only difference between it and mine was that it was 5 sped and mine is automatic. Will the harness still work?

I have a 97 Ranger XLT 4.0l Automatic extended cab

It should.

Computer wiring harness for engine will have plugs/connectors you won't use on a manual but will use on an automatic.
You have the automatic transmission part of the wiring harness still connected and that will plug into the Manual wiring harness, there may be blanks/covers on those connectors from the manual.

i.e. there is one main wiring harness installed, then there are sub wiring harness's used for the optional equipment, those are plugged into the main harness.
Automatic would be a sub harness

Is there any way to be certain? It was a nightmare getting this thing off since it's the section of the harness with the fuel injectors I had to take the entire intake manifold off and everything.
